I'm constantly seeing stuff and meaning to link to it and forgetting. Well, for once I didn't: this (warning: mp3 file) cracked me up. I mean, if you are like me, the last time you heard this song, it was sung by, well, *me*, or someone like me, out of tune and out of breath and facing away from you half the time. So this greatly amused me. Like that Copland song with the animal noises.

Also, the total biomass of squid now exceeds the total biomass of humans. But how does either compare to beetles, that's what I want to know. Seriously, I'm delighted - a biomass news factoid! Involving squid! Yay!

Sweet! As i see it, this means that i can justify eating lots and lots of squid on the grounds of restoring ecological balance.

Go for it, eat squid.

But not all cephalopods are doing well. The nautilus is overfished for its shell, and reproduces very slowly, and does not survive in an aquarium.
