the rest of my vacation
Aug. 3rd, 2004 07:42 pmSomewhat brief summary:
Sunday the whateverth of July: After the con, Josh drove us back to Pasadena, stopping in at House His Dad for dinner. I ended up playing with the little brothers while Josh worked on their wireless network.
Monday: something happened, I don't know. I think I sat around reading a lot of Dykes to Watch Out For and Bone again. Maybe some other comics too. Man, I never even got into the Elfquest or Cerebus the whole time I was there. Next time maybe.
Tuesday: Huntington for tea. Yummy tea. Pretty gardens. Novel experience of using a fake ID (someone else's membership and photo ID) to get in somewhere.
Wednesday: Theater, "Intimate Apparel". I'm disappointed by it. Very nice to meet
Thursday: Magic Mountain. Whee! although not as transcendently fantastic as it used to be, and more grueling. Best single moment: this little unexpected twist thing on Scream. Best overall coaster: yeesh, hard to say. Not X, I think, the flipping was almost too disorienting, I never quite knew where I was going or what was going on. Scream was a sweet smooth ride. Goliath - hard to argue with tunnel vision, baby. And I'll always love Colossus. Dragged Josh to Krispy Kreme afterwards which proved hard on his stomach after all the rides, but oh so yummy.
Friday: Tie-dye, and sat in on Josh's rpg in the evening.
Saturday: Gaming! La Citta and Puerto Rico and RoboRally, yay!
Sunday: Um... something. We rinsed and washed the tie-dye stuff. Oh, and watched Firefly!! Over the course of the trip I saw the first three episodes of Wonderfalls, after which I never need to see any more ever man she was annoying me by the end, and the first, um, four or five episodes of Firefly, after which I need to see all of the rest of them as soon as possible . So much fun! I  Kaylee a lot.
Monday: Saw the Village, met Josh's sister, packed.

Date: 2004-08-09 10:36 pm (UTC)You (generic you, not you in particular) should definitely read Elfquest and early Cerebus. Up through Jaka's Story or possibly Melmoth.
But I made the mistake of picking up latest Cerebus GN/"phone book" at comic store the other day. Oog. I'm told it continued to be good up through the end, but to find out for myself I'll have to find a way to read it without getting trapped in Sim's author notes, which verge more and more on actual lunacy as time goes on. Either that or it was meant to be funny; I couldn't tell.
