Pirate-slash fangirls (and fanboys) must get themselves to a supermarket promptly and read the PotC story in the Disney Adventures checkout-line magazine. The story opens with the skele-pirates attacking Port Royal and kidnapping the Governor and Elizabeth, leaving Will and Norrington in jail. Jack gets Will out and suggests they go after a magic talisman, the Buccaneer's Heart, to deal with the problem of the en-curse-d pirated being impervious to harm. To get this talisman, they dress up in goofy skeleton costumes - which the skele-pirates fall for - but are discovered when Jack bends over to look in the box where the talisman is and his costume rips up the back. Right, so right off one of the big plot turning points is everyone turning and taking a good look at his ass ::grin::.

About to be captured again, Will activates the BH, which turns out to summon the green-glowing-ghosty spirits of four famous pirates (Blackbeard, Henry Morgan, um, somebody, and Mary Reade). Swashbuckling adventure and joking about the Code commences; once underway sailing after the skelepirates, there's some confusion and bickering over just who is giving the orders between Jack and the famous four, with Will ending up in command as Captain Turner because he has the talisman. Elizabeth and the Governor are duly rescued in the appropriate naval battle, and the famous four declare themselves impressed enough by Will to continue under his captaincy. Will he raise the British flag? The Jolly Roger? No, he breaks the amulet, thanks them, and releases them from his service. (It's all very RotK.)

But then, but then, in the closing panel, Jack tells him that he may have gotten rid of the amulet, but he still has a buccaneer's heart. And I nearly went eeeeeeee right there in the grocery store. Eeeeee! They could *so* easily have phrased that as "still a buccaneer *at* heart". Having Jack, looking at Will, tell him he still "has a buccaneer's heart"? Which buccaneer might you be thinking of there, Jack? It is not everyday you're handed subtext like that.

It is, alas, some 4 dollars. I keep hoping someone will contribute scans to here (http://www.potcfandom.com/comics.php), but no luck so far. Hey, if you get the magazine, you could ::grin::.

Hee hee. Is this the comic we saw together that one time, or a different one? (Is there like a whole series of these things? :^)
