The floor-sweepy part just *snapped off* of my vacuum cleaner. The hell? And can I interpret this as a sign from the gods that I'm done cleaning today?

(Admittedly those little upright electric broom objects only tend to last a couple years, and it had been smelling a little dubiously electrical-burny lately, so it was probably Its Time To Go anyways. But grr!)

I think most vacuums these days are not particularly made to last; at least, I've seen quite a few of them break. Some older ones seem to be sturdier (possibly because they're made out of metal instead of plastic), but this comes at the cost of a lack of useful things like HEPA filters.

And yes, I think you can definitely interpret this as a sign that you don't need to clean anymore just now. :-)
