What's wrong with a good old ul, I ask you.
Okay, to be honest, I have utterly no idea where to even start with things like password protection, much less automate it using people's email logins the way they can through the course registry system... the WebCT course materials managment system is in fact highly usefully wonderful in doing all the background work, and in centralizing course websites so they can be easily passed from year to year, etc etc.
It's just the *icons*. Blech, cutesy, maybe I should just go through and strip them out. Or that it's slow enough to be really annoying to accidentally click the icon instead of the radio button *next* to it and have to go back and forth (and this is on the lab mac - am fairly sure I couldn't use webct at all from home, so I'd better hope nothing urgent ever comes up while I'm at home). Or the little menu of options and what I want to do had better be one of them ("move this backwards" instead of "move this backwards __ items", of course). And, just, okay, I really believe the hallmark of a truly good website is that it's clear and easy to read in lynx, that you can find what you want quickly and painlessly, and that this is often best accomplished by barebones html and no automated fancy business, and that is just so not where the world is.
Possibly I should actually learn to use unix so as to have ground to stand on while shaking my little fist at stupid graphical interferencesfaces.
