The Nefarious Nights of Willowweep Manor
Sep. 28th, 2025 05:16 pmThe Nefarious Nights of Willowweep Manor, Shaenon K. Garrity and Christopher Baldwin, 2025 YA SFF graphic novel. Sequel to The Dire Days of Willowweep Manor, and despite opening with a charming little recap, I think you will want to have read that one to appreciate this one. If you have read that one you know it was delightful and this one is as well - fun new characters and an expansion of the premise, some excellently silly moments, Baldwin's adorable art, great stuff.
Spoilers: Shipping-wise, I'm intrigued by the hints of possible romantic tension between Haley and Miss Harewood - the mutual blushing when Cuthbert and Crickers find them in the study, Miss Harewood's interruption of Haley's reunion with Montague and her kind of dismayed look when they kiss at the end - I don't know, maybe in a multiple-genre pocket universe, you get a new Designated Love Interest for every genre? I wouldn't guess that Garrity and Baldwin want to take it that direction - I don't even know if they're writing a third book - but in my heart they eventually settle into a happy V. Uh, Haley and Montague and Miss Harewood I mean. Not Garrity and Baldwin. :)
