The Practice, the Horizon, and the Chain, Sofia Samatar, 2024 novella. Chattel slavery in space, and the possibility of mystical transcendence as resistance. I love Samatar's writing and found it powerful and compelling but it's definitely more of a parable than, like, a character study.
