Also, in my ongoing sporadic reviews of stuff my kids are reading, Girls Who Code #1: The Friendship Code. Cute, bland, mildly educational; picture a slightly-younger Babysitters Club with some compsci vocabulary and concepts. J liked it enough to also read the second one (and probably the third if it turns up at the library) but didn't want the tie-in nonfiction "learn more about coding" book. (Or maybe these are the tie-ins, whatever.) The characters are nominally 6th and 7th graders but it's probably better for younger kids, I dunno if actual 6th/7th graders would be patient with the way this kind of book candycoats the actual brutality of middleschool. But, like, my 3rd grader has no idea of that yet, so hey.
