celebratory spending
Jun. 27th, 2015 12:31 amI don't mean to be all "I am so great look at my benevolence" but being in an, I don't know, flush of community good feeling sort of mood, I just split some donation money between the Boston Alliance of Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Youth, the Massachusetts Housing and Shelter Alliance who do a housing program for LGBTQ homeless young adults, and the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, who run a program called "Youth on Fire" in Harvard Square for homeless and street-involved youth. Honestly I know jack shit about these groups and they might be horrible scams or hopelessly inefficient - Charity Navigator didn't have anything - but I just looked at like a hundred rainbow flags and I have really strong feelings about queer kids getting rejected by their parents and I'm posting this to encourage anyone who *does* know what the hell they're talking about and has money for spontaneous donation to consider doing something similar, like, let's all buy the United States a wedding present or something.
