long-time local business closes up shop
Feb. 25th, 2014 04:00 pmBeloved local eatery Mom's House of Noms served up its final meal last Thursday, an early-morning pre-breakfast. Neither the proprietor or customer realized at the time that it would be the concluding occasion, but when the customer unexpectedly did not show up the following morning, the proprietor decided that the time for the long-anticipated closing had arrived. Over the nearly four years of operation, the menu had no variety and there were only ever two customers, but the proprietor's estimation puts the number of portions served somewhere between eight and nine thousand. A few tears have been shed in the community over the closing, but in the context of a rich variety of dining options, patronage of Mom's House of Noms had dwindled to more of a lingering habit than an important dietary component. Suggestions from elsewhere in the community that the location reopen as an adults-only night spot are under consideration.
