Galois Theory, a L'Engle story about the Murrays. I'm not quite sure this works or what it's doing exactly, but it's interesting.
Three Kushiel stories:
Traitor's Son is Imriel/Maslin, aka "the pairing I really wanted in Kushiel's Justice".
Only Ever One is about Mavros, and is one of my favorite things I've read so far this year. Romance, Kushiel-series-typical kink, I LOVE this. 10500 words.
Kushiel's Fall is about Favrielle.
Three Chrestomanci stories:
A Place to Call Your Own is about Janet getting used to life in Chrestomanci Castle.
Checklist is about Millie, out in the world.
The Young Chants is about everyone - Christopher and Millie and Janet and Cat.
and i beg you call the tune, for something very different, is a Fire and Hemlock story. I think F&H is very hard to write well, but this did a good job.
Four How to Train Your Dragon stories:
How To Teach Your Human. Nice Toothless POV.
This is Berk. Good Astrid POV.
Zingers. Blacksmithing!
Catch the Wind. Astrid and Hiccup.
"Worked okay so far?" is a
Calvin and Hobbes and Bacon story! (You've all seen the Hobbes and Bacon comics, right?)
Gracious is a Hamlet story. What can anyone possibly have to say about Hamlet at this point? This.
Shipmates. The pirate and the captain, mutual nemeses, from Hark A Vagrant.
Death Comes to the Mountain. A Gashlycrumb Tinies story, be warned for, you know, 26 child deaths. I might have to reread this one, there's more going on here than you might think at first.
How to Survive on a Desert Planet. An Enemy Mine retell/AU thing. (We watched part, but not all, of the movie in my 9th grade chem class one day, so I don't really know the movie, but dang is it a good premise.)
