Adele Varens, a Jane Eyre story about Adele.

Angels in the Aquarium, a Kraken story (and secret crossover, pretty funny when you catch on).

Reparations. A gen Kushiel story about Joscelin when he was young.

The End and the Way. Left Hand of Darkness fic seems to bring out the good writing. Longish (12K words).

Oaks in the Coppice was my favorite of this year's Lord Peter Wimsey stories.

Letters and Questions. Let me warn you up front that there's an author's note at the end saying this was supposed to have two more chapters, and I really felt the lack of them, but what's there is still worthwhile, you can see where it was going. A longish Little Women AU where Jo goes to Europe and Laurie follows her.

Leviathan

There were seven Leviathan stories, between Yuletide and Madness, and, honestly, if you're interested in Leviathan fanfic you probably want to just read all of them (if you didn't weeks ago). Why would you not want more Deryn/Alek? Morning Exploits is sweet, if it all fits is funny, Immodest Proposals is full of yay, Le Sentiment de Vivre is original, Who You Are is hot and delicious, and probably my favorite if I had to pick one, but why pick, they're all good, and they're all short.

Wrong Turn is not Deryn/Alek, it's a crossover with the Young Wizards series, in which Carmela meets Lilit.

And then there's Two Maids Dusting, written by me. Plottier than the rest of them mostly by virtue of being, um, longer (nearly 10K words). I was just madly delighted by my assignment this year - I don't mean to knock the valuable Yuletide experience of being challenged to write something outside one's own personal enthusiasms, but it can't really compete with grinning like an idiot reading the dear author letter and thinking maybe I should send the matching software a thank-you note or something because *I get to write this story*. And in fact I'm quite happy with how it came out. Crossdressing! Suffragettes! Wacky Darwinist biotech!

(Bonus rec: the wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring is not a Yuletide fic at all, but it is a Leviathan story I've been meaning to rec. About 15K words; I had to stop and squee in the middle because *haircut*!)

I am enjoying all the Leviathan fic, but absolutely loved yours. It truly feels like it is the next part of the story since you perfectly captured their characters, and the tone of Westerfeld's writing. Great plot, use of history, new beasties; everything about it was just so great. Very well done, and I totally want to read more.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I have a lot more Leviathan ideas rattling around in my head if I ever make time to write again before, uh, next year's Yuletide...
