fic recs: Mythbusters RPF

I've never seen Mythbusters and couldn't pick the cast out of a lineup, but I still greatly enjoyed these two stories.

Robots Need Love Too is a short story about two kids in space. Or how you don't need to be neurotypical to be a good friend.

In Search Of by the same author is a novel-length story about the apocalypse. Reminded me of Emergence, only with less Mary Sue and more slash.

Celebrity fanfic isn't usually my thing, but I was curious about these, and really enjoyed both of them, and having actually watched Mythbusters, I thought this author did an excellent job of really capturing their characters. The first was so cute, and the second was really good. Thanks for the rec.

I almost never read RPF (er, Real Person Fic) because I'm interested in the celebrity and want to read stories about them. So the main thing that makes it different from original characters for me is that I know if I like the character dynamics there are probably more stories out there with similar characters with the same names ::grin::. It has however happened a couple of times now that I've started reading RPF about musicians (NSync and Adam Lambert) and gotten curious enough to want to check out their music and ended up as a fan. (Still sad I never saw NSync in concert...) I actually have a kind of squick about fanfic that involves people's real-life relationships - like, in my head there's a separation between Adam the fanfic character, who I usually ship with Kris the fanfic character, and Adam the musician, who is adorable with Sauli but I don't want to read fic about it.
