book recs: Black Heart and Red Shirts

I read Black Heart, the third book of Holly Black's Curseworkers Trilogy, awhile ago and never wrote it up. Excellent! She did a bunch of things I found very satisfying, and only one thing I didn't totally buy. Series as a whole is highly recommended.

Redshirts by John Scalzi is hilarious and clever. Do you like Star Trek? Meta? Fanfic? Then you will appreciate this book. One bit of ( vaguely spoilery criticism )
