sadly not a book rec: Children of the Sky

Interrupting Short Story Week to talk about a book! I was hoping I would be recommending this book, but... I can't. I finished Vernor Vinge's sequel to Fire Upon the Deep, Children of the Sky, and was not impressed. I'm sure Vinge completists and curious Fire Upon the Deep fans will want to read it anyways, but I'm not going to encourage anyone to seek it out who wasn't already going to. I'll make a separate post with a full, spoiler-laden review; people who have read it and want to discuss it should reply to that post and not this one.
