I am sadly addicted to advice columns. Every so often I try to quit but it never sticks. Dear Abby, Annie's Mailbox, Dear Prudence, Carolyn Hax, Ask Amy, Savage Love... here are two you may not have heard of:

Dear Sugar is biweekly and long and deep where many are shallow.

Captain Awkward is a blog where both the questions and answers tend to have the, uh, sensibility of young educated geeky people.

Normally when I rake leaves, I fill the yard waste can, step up in there, trample them down, and repeat. I can't do that this year (starting with not being able to step that high and continuing on to an unwillingness to risk falling over). I tried pushing the leaves down with my rake, which worked at first when they were still pretty fluffy, but as they got denser, I had to push harder... and ended up snapping the head off my rake. So: don't do that. I should have either used the push broom or put Juniper in there to stomp.
