science for tinies: wrecking ball

Project: Can We Knock It Down?
Materials: Playground ball, rope, milk carton blocks, ring, tape.
Explanatory details: From here. Hang ball from rope as pendulum in doorway, use to knock over blocks.
How did it go: Junie was not into this. She wanted to hold the ball and push it into the blocks to knock them down; the idea of letting it swing seemed to be beyond her, or totally unappealing, hard to tell which.
Things we talked about: We really didn't get beyond me trying to demo the idea of letting it swing and her grabbing it away.
What Junie got out of it: She got really upset when I started setting up blocks and it wasn't to build her things on demand...

We've been doing a lot of No Time For Flash Cards-inspired letter art lately, maybe I'll get a post up about that at some point.
