Pirates of the Caribbean
Jul. 11th, 2003 07:38 pmI have to admit, I did not expect more from this movie than Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom in pirate costumes.
And instead I got Johnny Depp *sashaying around* in a pirate costume, lovely swordfighting, *excellent* music, inspired use of special effects, a plot *I* have yet to come up with any giant gaping holes in, some well-done references to the ride, characters I liked, slashalicious chemistry between the three leads (okay, for one of whom it's hetalicious chemistry, but whatever ::grin::), and enough swash to buckle several times over. Need to see it again (test for rewatchability quotient, ya know), but I'm thinking this one makes the list of favorite fantasy/action/adventure movies.
Also, if I was propping it as a SWIL movie, I could use the tagline ( Pirates of the Caribbean: )
