in which I have a splendid Christmas

- my family calling from London
- getting a surprise present from Letzan (who is on a boat) via a cron-job email telling me to look in the bottom drawer of my pantry. And then it was *fic*, and *really* funny and cute, and eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
- my parents, in addition to the cost of my Boheme ticket (which I knew about) and jersey sheets (which I had asked for, but not expected, except maybe for my birthday), having gotten me a pound and a half alder smoked king salmon (also fun because it was totally the "I have no idea what is in this box" gift when I opened the shipping box last night to set stuff out). This stuff is like, the salmon of the gods. Also a stocking which included frog socks, and the candied pecans my dad makes.
- talking to my extended family (and finding out all my presents had made it there on time)
- listening to the Buffy musical and Shrek soundtrack and other new CDs
- Kelilah and Sofer coming over to help me bake, and then cleverly making it snow to make Kelilah leave so there'd be more food for... er, okay, that did not actually make my day. It was very sad that Kelilah had to leave before actually getting to ice any cookies or eat any baked stuff. But Sofer and I did cook a mighty holiday meal including mashed potatoes, brussels sprout curry, my dad's corn&zucchini, steak au poivre (done in a veggie-burger version for Sofer), and the aforementioned rolls (Ginther's 3-hour rolls, a family recipe that this was my first time tackling and I was very pleased to have come out okay). And then we iced the cookies - Sofer was very good at coming up with interesting things to turn them into including Papa Smurf, a crusader, and various birds, although I think I like my Legolas and Gimli best.
- the fact that my non-stick cookware cleans up like a dream, somewhat expediting the process of washing two cookie sheets, three saucepans, both frypans, every bowl and measuring implement I own, and most of the cutlery. In addition to various and sundry other things (I have finally used my potato masher! And the sifter, which turns out not to work!).
- did I mention talking to my sister? and getting fic from Letzan?
