the return of the wine
Dec. 24th, 2002 08:49 pmSo at work Monday morning the other possible intended wine recipient mentioned to one of her people that "apparently (my archboss) had gone around giving out wine", and after they were done with their conversation I mentioned to her that I had "had a confusing conversation" about it, and I wasn't really sure what the intent had been, at which point she expressed repeatedly that she didn't really care, and I came up with the very good reason to have even brought it up that I was worried she would thank my archboss for it and it would be awkward then if he hadn't actually given it to her. She seemed to agree that on the one hand, maybe he considered me one of his people, and on the other hand she's apparently pretty good friends with him, and it could have been either. So she thought she'd ask him, in the form of "hey, I found wine on my desk", but ended up talking to one of the department secretaries who said that he had been handing out wine that day to everyone else in his lab, and thus concluded it was mine.
So I have it now, and I guess at some point there will be wine served at some occasion, and I think at no point was anyone offended or otherwise made upset, so, a social situation handled!
