Have been madly Doing Stuff before trading off free time for work. Like catching up on some of the comics I don't read daily... there is a great deal of loveliness in the latest chapter of Your Wings Are Mine.
Went with AT to the 12th First Annual IgNobel Prize Ceremony, which was hilarious. Did not, alas, win the date with a Nobel Prize recipient, but the audience did get to sing along in the last act of the Jargon opera.
One last weekday-afternoon video-thon with Kelilah, Letzan, and Sofer; saw Rear Window (interesting, some really neat shots) and the end of Buffy season 2 (!) (!!!) (am still blown away by mix of extreme funniness and interesting plotting and emotional oomph). Must reschedule to weekday-evening or weekend-afternoon video-thons... need... more... Buffy...
Went to the finally-reopened Mapparium with Sofer and Letzan. Echo-acoustics at center of 30-foot glass sphere are fantabulous, plus 1935 map poses interesting questions for geography-ignorant like "so where the heck is Pakistan these days", plus figured out Christian Science theory of evil (very Eddyfying excursion ::ducks::).
And a couple "finally"s... finally got public library card (after 2+ years here... ::shame::) and checked out books for end-of-unemployment reading binge (also bought booksale books including Cassini Division for a dollar, whee). Finally went to local Scottish dance with Sofer... was social night, danced 11 out of 12 including Petronella which made my legs feel like noodles. People kept knowing TH (Scottish teacher from college) so I kept hoping my steps were doing credit to him.
So, feeling ready for work. Also nervous.
