You know what? I liked it. I really liked it. (Sorry, Chaos, I know you wanted snark.) I sort of wish they'd gone sci-fi rather than metaphysical and let the AU be a real alternate timeline split off by the bomb, but if you're going to have ghosts, heaven makes sense in that world, it was emotionally satisfying, it was aesthetically satisfying with all the mirroring of the first episode, there were a lot a lot a LOT of little writing choices to like. After the past few episodes I was expecting it to be terrible and I think it did what I didn't even believe possible and redeemed the season. Late now, more later.

I'm still somewhat blank regarding how I feel about it in its entirety. I think they did individual characters very well, and am EXTREMELY happy that everyone recognized it HAD to be Hurley in the end, which I've been saying since we first heard of the concept of candidates.

I still want to see the spin-off tv show of Miles and Sawyer as detectives, with occasional appearances by a snarky red-headed anthropologist...

I need to watch it again, but I was really disappointed. I liked how they did a lot of it (such as ending it with Jack's eye closing, and even the meeting to all move on together was done well) but I was really expecting them to do something more clever with the ending. It was all this build up build up build up, then I was left feeling like they couldn't come up with anything better.

Until this final episode I was really wanting to watch the entire series again, and now I feel like I don't need to bother. Plus I don't know if I would recommend the show to anyone anymore.

However, I'll probably like the finale more on a second watch, just as I like the Harry Potter movies more on a re-watch....the first time I'm disappointed with what they didn't do, then the second time I can enjoy what they did do.
