LIBBY!

Not 100% sure I like what they're doing with her - they seem to be playing her/Hurley as yet another Destined Love (which, in general, I am not so into as a plot for anyone), and ignoring the implication that original Libby was playing him for some reason (remember her eye-roll of disgust when he can't see?). On the other hand I loved alternaHurley saying "everyone has something" and the general idea that people can have mental illness and still be desirable/able to form relationships. And I'm just thrilled that they actually came back to her.

Other signs of the apocalypse the approaching finale: a sudden random PSA about The Whispers! This one didn't really work for me (they're dead people who can't move on? just people who died there, or elsewhere too? so it really is Purgatory? how do they decide when to show up, is it just random?) but at least it seemed like a good sign that someone somewhere has a list of mysteries they need to address before the end of the show and is actively trying to check things off the list.

And of all the weird things, *Jack* gets one of the best lines of the episode, "maybe the message is don't play with dynamite". (Which, gah, as soon as Ilana started throwing things in her bag and tossing it around... yeep.) He reverts to character later though ("never mind what is or isn't actually a good strategy, Hurley, the important thing here is my personal growth!").

As far as strategy, I love that Hurley is trying to see if they can work everything out by *talking* (and specifically not shooting each other). He is so my hero. (Although entrepreneur-philanthropist alternaHurley is pretty awesome too, I must say.)

Meanwhile alternaDesmond seems to have gone crazy (and *not* in a "mentally ill and still a worthwhile person" kind of way, in a "cold-blooded fanatical devotion to a dubious cause" kind of way"). OMG do not hurt alternaLocke, horrible alternaDesmond! Even if you think that originaLocke just pushed originaYou down a well, what about the Hurley strategy?

Some predictions: now that the Oceanics have reunited, Kate will talk to Jack about her angst re: Claire, continuing the pattern where either of them can talk to a man about it but they can't actually have a conversation themselves. Ben, Miles, and Richard are doomed - it's really not good when you divide up original cast/later-season characters - although presumably one at a time in various dramatic ways. God only knows what's going on with either Desmond. In my dreams, Sun knocks someone out with an oar again and steals the outrigger to go find Widmore and Jin - she actually knows Widmore, she may not consider it bad news that Jin is now in his camp instead of with the supernatural monster thing.

Oh, and ETA: my heart broke a little at Hurley's line about dead people being more reliable than live ones.

Questions:
- who are Adam and Eve (the bodies in the cave)?
- what happened to Rose and Bernard and Vincent after the bomb went off?
- why did the psychic tell Claire she had to be on that plane? is there something special about Aaron? does who ends up raising him have any bearing on any of the big conflicts?
- Walt?
- haha. no, seriously, Walt? do his powers have anything to do with Jacob/Smocke? where is he in the new timeline? what made the Others interested in him, and did Ben really let him go because he was too powerful for him to control?
- Libby?
- why did flight attendant Cindy happily join the Others?
- will Sun and Jin ever make it back home to their little girl?
- why didn't Sun go back to 1977 with the rest of the Oceanic 6?
Answered:
- what happened to Claire, anyways, after she vanished on the island? (She's been living much as Rousseau did. Also, she's insane and in cahoots with Smocke.)
- why doesn't Richard Alpert age? who/what is he? (He was on the Black Rock, and he doesn't age because that's just something Jacob can do to people.)

Prediction: Alterna!Desmond drove over Alterna!Locke so that Alterna!Jack will have to operate on him and fix his paralysis.
