Dancing for once without the sidekick, it's not actually the lack of the 18-lb sack of flour strapped to my chest that I notice most (although that is noticeable), it's the absence of the carton of eggs sitting on top of it: so much fun to set and slip and spin without a little head to not jostle. (Note to self: find someone going to NEFFA who likes babies and dislikes the contra medley so that Josh and I can both dance in it...)

I am always at NEFFA and I do not contra-medly. (for that matter, I do not contra). You may have other better options, those are simply truths.

I assume i'm going to NEFFA, and i imagine that J and i would be quite happy to watch you and Josh dance the contra medley.

You dance with Juniper attached? I did not know such a thing was possible.

It's getting the super glue unstuck afterwards that's the problem. ;^) (Seriously: yes, using a front carrier, kind of like a backpack but, you know, on the front, and with holes for baby's arms and legs and head. I've seen several other people do a similar thing, as it's the only way to really dance and supervise the kid at the same time.)

I'm just amazed you can do it at all.

This (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=30371795&l=dab88217a9&id=1100051342) is the carrier, if that helps you picture it, and I only do English with her, not Scottish or contra which are too bouncy and fast. But plenty of English dances are already slow and stately, and those that aren't are usually amenable to a little modification - walking step instead of slipping or skipping, turning fast one-and-a-half turns into slow half-turns, etc. I actually really like dancing with her, and I think she enjoys the motion and rhythm, it's just also fun to occasionally speed things up a little.

that is an AWESOME idea. I mean, I used to prefer both Scottish and contra to English, but...

Don't the dances usually last past her bedtime? The last time we took Sheena out past bedtime (NYE) we paid for it but good later.

Well, we are... not really very scheduled, such that "bedtime" is pretty flexible. She can fall asleep in the Ergo, if she gets tired enough, and it's not like she doesn't wake up during the evening anyways when she's home in her crib...
