our baby is gross

She was largely indifferent to bubbles and is scared of the windup hedgehog. She got Baby's First Mosquito Bites this week and likes to practice sitting but can't balance for more than a second or so without needing to be steadied. For someone who can't actually crawl I spend an awful lot of time hauling her back onto the quilt away from the bare hardwood ("oh, no, baby, don't lick the floor": possibly the thing I say most times per day).

144 days. So unbelievably big (and yet still so small).

I hope you don't see the day when your toddler feeds the ducks (planting rubber-boot-clad feet squarely in a bunch of goose poop), and then (before parents have a chance to intervene) removes a boot and licks the sole.

EEEEEW.

I'm just grateful that was the worst T ever did, mind. I was the despair of my parents: shampoo, sewing machine oil, iron supplements, and I don't know what all. I have a vivid memory of my last encounter with ipecac, at age five.

If you don't like your baby licking the floor, you will also want to be diligent about cleaning up dropped food... Because you might think that eating day-old food off the floor is gross, too. (Jonah did not lick the floor, but day-old food was (is) definitely fair game.)
