ick, eek, and uh?

I meant to write this up yesterday but never did: I had this nightmare featuring lj. See, irilyth and I had been kidnapped, only we somehow still had his laptop and wireless access... for some reason we were waiting to try to contact the police, but it had been 13 hours and we decided we could post something to lj asking for help. Only then we were arguing about what to post, Josh had this whole roundabout apologetic introductory paragraph, and I was like, no, we have to make sure the first thing they read is "HELP! We've been kidnapped" and then we were trying to decide what to include of some very long quiz results that might have been a form we had filled out online to report our situation to the police, where we kept having to choose answers that weren't quite right. This all sounds funny in retrospect but at the time it was a real nightmare because through this all there was this enormous time pressure, that at any moment they might come through the door and shoot us and I was *so* scared.

The really funny thing is that I woke up and instantly thought "duh! webmail!" before being aware that I hadn't been thinking clearly because it was a dream. I mean, by the end of the dream the room where we were being held was pretty much my bedroom at my parents' house, with a big window, and we had the *door open* to listen for the kidnappers coming up the stairs... why didn't we just escape, huh? Perhaps because of lingering disturbance over this when I went back to sleep I had a sequel dream, in which Josh *had* escaped and I was confronting one of the kidnappers, who turned out to be this random little middle aged woman. Much smaller than me, you know? She was trying to get me to tell her where Josh was and hit me in the shoulder, and I was like, use your words not your hands, we'll do better here if we try to remember our manners, at which point she got all smug and was like haha, you just feel like you have to be polite because of the hypnotic suggestion we're using to control you, at which point I was like, haha! and got her in a headlock and wrestled her out of the house as, like, my hostage or whatever, and then I think left one of her daughters holding her while I stole their car? This is all probably symbolic somehow, but at the time it was just satisfying, it was like the complete opposite of the first dream, in that somehow I knew she *couldn't* hurt me, and, you know, it all made sense that we hadn't escaped before, because, hypnotic suggestion!

On another topic entirely, I really don't get it in Buffy fic when *gay* Willow gives Buffy speeches about how Spike can never marry her and give her babies and maybe she should reconsider. I mean, it's not like Tara or Kennedy is much competition for a vampire in the sperm count department, and until recently the marrying would be pretty much no go as well. Which, even if Willow doesn't have some sort of reason why that's fine for her but not Buffy, I would sort of expect Buffy to point out...
