DR definitely gets points for no annoying talking animal sidekicks. There are some minor animal characters, but I thought they were well-handled, shown as wild and preferably indifferent to humans, instead of being our little friendly inherently-virtuous natural buddies.
Also, nice handling of the problem of evil. If you want a truly-monotheist world, where do you get a scary, quasidivine evil power without veering into dualism or polytheism? DR provides a satisfying solution. More points.
