So last October I got a jury duty postponement since I was starting the new job. We can all see where this is going, right?

In a minor miracle, I found my summons and instructions and stuff - in the first place I looked - including the scribbled note reading 10/20/03.

Fneh. I'm just getting things going better in the lab, I'm on track, having split cells today, to transfect Friday and harvest/run gels Monday, I don't want to deal with this. But I suppose I had better call them tomorrow and see whether they're expecting me to show up, and the advisor (and me) will just have to push things back a week or something. Grepping civic duty.

Well, you might get lucky; I had jury duty over the summer, but ended up never having to actually go in, though I had to call on each night except the last one to find out that I wouldn't have to show up the next day.

I'm still somewhat amazed that they actually gave you a new date a whole year ago. What would they have done if you had moved during the course of that year?

Good luck getting it scheduled for a better time, anyway.

What's the jury duty system like there? In both states where I've been called, it's one day or one trial. I did have to serve on a jury once, which was actually an interesting experience, but the other two times I just sat in the big jury room and read or worked on my laptop all day and then was excused.
