The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi

The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi, Shannon Chakraborty, 2023 novel. This was a lot of fun. An adventure story rather than the factional intrigue of the Daevabad books, which I think made it easier to not have pacing problems, and the cast is comparatively small, and the motivations comparatively straightforward. Neat setting (various coastal places around the western Indian ocean, a world I had never really thought about before) and good action. I loved the characters and their interactions and I look forward to reading two more, since it's apparently the start of a trilogy, although it stops in a satisfying place and I would expect to be able to pick up the next one without needing to review this one.
