Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Jul. 3rd, 2022 07:28 pmShang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. These movies are so much fun when they get to be just a standalone story about some cool guy instead of an Event in some giant arc! I laughed a bunch and was able to follow what was going on in all the fights, what more do you want. The very very final battle was not-very-engaging CGI-vs-CGI, but I thought everything up until that was well-choreographed (the bus fight was great, the scaffolding was so classic, the almost-final battle did what it needed to do in terms of landing the emotional arc). Also it's always nice to just gaze at highly-attractive people for a couple of hours. (I have more Hugos homework to do or I'd be tempted to go watch In the Mood for Love, which I have never seen but is apparently A Major Classic, to see if Tony Leung was that good-looking when he was younger... (I guess he was in Hero, which I remember liking, but I don't remember much about it.))

I liked Chungking Express less than Fallen Angels (which TLCW isn't in), but it's still good.)
