I have of late been thinking that I don't write enough fan letters to moderately-famous people whose work I enjoy. I have read a bunch of stuff from moderately-famous people saying that they enjoy getting the occasional fan letter, and I can imagine that would be actually pretty awesome, when it didn't get to the point of needing to hire someone to handle all the fan mail. I don't think Benjamin Rosenbaum is anywhere near at the level where fan mail would become irritating, so I would think the worst that would happen, whatever kind of note you send, would be him thinking it was sweet but that he can't engage too much for [reasons].
Or the worst that would happen is that he would post a five-thousand-word essay on his blog in response that would be utterly mind-blowing. Which isn't, like, extremely likely, because dude is busy, but on the other hand, it is the sort of thing that has happened.
I kinda wish I liked podcasts, so I could enjoy the one he and Mary Anne Mohanraj and sometimes Jed are doing, because I suspect it's a lot of fun.
