psocopteraRing Shout, P. Djèlí Clark, 2020. Standalone novella about a monster-fighting paladin in the 1920s American South taking on literal monsters infiltrating the KKK. Terrific interweaving of classic sword-and-sorcery fantasy with historical fantasy, and Clark's typical strong secondary cast of appealing characters. I look forward to seeing it on all the awards shortlists.
