Axiom's End

Axiom's End, Lindsay Ellis. Thriller-ish opening gives way to a sort of E.T.-meets-Enemy Mine plot, and none of it really worked for me. Some jarring pacing/transitions, the frame story seemed like an awkward fit with where the emotional core seemed to end up, and a weird abrupt ending mid-conversation. Ellis's mention of (rot13) Genafsbezref in the acknowledgments was interesting - maybe an indication of where this story was coming from for her - but not enough to retroactively sell it.
