The Old Guard, 2020 Netflix movie. Immortal warriors! Charlize Theron as a total badass! (Between this and Atomic Blonde is she my favorite action star these days? Maybe? Like, the Bruce Willis niche, not cape roles.) I really enjoy a summer fantasy-action flick that wants to cater to *me* instead of (straight)(white) men. It's adapted (pretty directly, based on the first issue, which is online) from a comic by Greg Rucka, who also wrote Whiteout, and perhaps learned something from when they made the movie of that (which I still and always refuse to see because never have I been so disappointed by a trailer), because he wrote the script for Old Guard and put it in the contract that he got to keep certain elements in it. Very much hoping for a sequel of this one too.
