Saga 9 and my Hugo Graphic Novel ballot
Jun. 14th, 2019 07:21 pmSaga volume 9 is definitely a volume of Saga. I had already been accidentally spoiled for the end and was like "hrmm" at first but I actually found it more interesting given some of the other stuff that happened? Wow, that's vague. Anyways. Space soap opera still soaping along.
Graphic novel thoughts/ballot/predictions behind the cut.
I talked about Paper Girls 4 here, On A Sunbeam here, Abbott here, Black Panther here, and Monstress 3 here. I nominated On A Sunbeam and I would love to see it win - I think it would be a more interesting win than a Monstress threepeat - but honestly I think it's going to be Monstress again.
My ballot:
1 - On A Sunbeam
2 - Monstress 3
3 - Paper Girls 4
4 - Saga 9
5 - Abbott
6 - Black Panther: Long Live the King
(Saga felt particularly "sex and death" formulaic this time around, but I still found it more engaging to read than Abbott and Black Panther. Probably helps that I like Fiona Staples' art a lot.)
