The Call, Peadar O'Guilin. Lodestar prerequisite reading; the sequel is a nominee. I found this pretty engaging, although at first I thought I would much rather be reading about other parts of the premise, like, okay, supernatural disaster targeting teens, whatever, what about their parents, what about the economy. But it moved along, and I liked the main character, and I thought the complications to the situation developing at the end were potentially interesting, so I don't mind being going to read the next one. I mean, the next one will probably turn out to have a similar ratio of tedious gruesome teen death to interesting bits and I'll end up feeling strung along, but what can you do.
