psocoptera: ink drawing of celtic knot (ha!)

Courtney Milan has such a direct line to my id it's not even funny. You could phrase it as "women who Do and men who support them". In its way, it's just as slick and idealised a fantasy as simultaneous orgasms with a Viking who brushes his teeth, but boy does it get me every time. "Your goals and passions are admirable," he purred. "Please let me lend you my socioeconomic resources." ::swoon:: Milan is also doing some neat stuff in this series (at least she seems to be, this is the first book of it) in terms of grappling with the fact that in those much-beloved British historical settings, the British Empire is *not the good guys* - okay, that's an oversimplification, but she's talking about the Opium Wars and British imperialism and moral righteousness and treason and I can't wait to see how this develops in further books.
