Shadow Scale
Apr. 17th, 2015 12:47 pmI urgently need someone who was an Amy Unbounded fan and has read Shadow Scale to come hold internet hands with me in the comments, oh my god.
AMY. OH MY GOD. I mean, first Lalo, oh my god, Lalo, that he found Niesta again and she was married and moved on, there may have been misty eyes and pressing my hands to my heart, but, AMY, is ALIVE and WITH BRAN and is a dracomachist, that is just EVERYTHING to me. I guess it's weird to be all "she's alive!" when she's not a real person and it's not like her fictional life was in particular danger, but, just, all these years later, to get that closure to her story, that she's with Bran - it's like, what is it like. It's like Susan Cooper writing a sequel to Seaward or something. Belondweg Blossoming is such a beloved, beloved story to me, I still cry pretty much every time I read that last chapter (when Lalo kisses Niesta on the road, GOD), and to have this whole new ending for it - to know that, someday, Amy is with Bran again (and, look, in my heart that's "with" in a romantic way, but even if not, there is no "just" in them being friends) - oh, man. I am just so very very happy for some of my favorite fictional people in the world. And heartbroken for Lalo. And I guess I'd better finish the book now in case someone gets killed in the last 20%. I just had to come try to share this with someone immediately.
