Not to be confused with Lockstep. Lock In is an SF thriller by John Scalzi and is, like any Scalzi book, a fun read with some interesting bits. I always enjoy worldbuilding around things like telepresence robots/android bodies/that sort of thing, and there were some nice touches here.
I did consider, while reading, what it would mean for Chris to identify as black, or not, if the threeps aren't racially marked. (It's not clear in the narration whether Chris would or not.) I did *not* catch at all that nobody ever uses any pronouns or gender words for Chris, who might thus be a girl Chris. Chris defaults to male for me as a name, probably as a result of knowing male Chrises, and for whatever reason Chris's voice sounded more dude to me than lady, but it was still really interesting to catch myself in the assumption.
