things to watch and listen to
Mar. 15th, 2014 09:45 pmI often feel rather illiterate about vids, like I can parse them if they're doing something very literal (song lyrics say "blue" and there are lots of blue things, song lyrics say "starships" and there are lots of spaceships, to pick two I've really enjoyed), but more complicated stuff about character arcs and relationships and comparisons between different shows goes over my head, or rather, I end up with this sort of feeling there's something there but can't actually put it into words the way I can with written works. Some of that has to do with the speed of most vids - I am not a fast processor and the individual clips in vids tend to flash by faster than I can get more than the very most surface impressions from them, like "dark" or "shooting" or whatever. Even when I've seen the source I often can't recall the context of a scene from such a short clip and so I tend to feel like I'm missing the connotations I was supposed to be getting.
All that is a leadup to me saying that I can't tell you exactly what this vid is arguing, and yet I feel like it has a very strong argument ::grin::, like, a very definite *perspective*. Hey Ho, about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, link goes to a DW post not directly to the video. Also it's a Tracy Grammer song which I could listen to over and over, and the vid is just beautiful.
In completely different news, someone made a podfic of one of my stories! I haven't actually listened to it, as I have listening-to-talking issues, but how awesome is that that someone wanted to. Eight Principles of Yong the podfic, link goes to AO3 page, this is the Avatar: the Last Airbender story about Zuko doing fire calligraphy.
