And they all lived. A cracked-out crossover of the Paper Bag Princess with, uh… real life… but maybe it works?

Babel. Sometimes I read sports RPF. I had to look up who Trevor Hirschfeld was (spoilers: hot murderball player) but I did not have to look up Oscar Pistorius.

Seven Bells. About Sabriel and Touchstone getting on with things.

Regret is a dish best served lightly chilled, with a side of ornamental radishes. My pick of this year's Oglaf stories. Sandoval! Ivan!

Snowed In. Second-favorite Oglaf story, starring the lesbian mercenary.

L is for Wimsey! (Er, Lord Peter etc.) Everything else in this batch is Wimsey.

A Clean Fire, about Saint-George.

Particular Talents, Wimsey and Bunter.

War Torn, Wimsey/Bunter AU.

The Affair of the Blanched Bibliomane. Wimsey, books, neat historical female character.

she stains the time past, lights the time to come. Wimsey and Harriet.

The Distant Hum of Engines, Saint-George after the war.

I feel bad that I haven't been commenting, mainly because I haven't read or don't even recognize the original works. So: in general, how necessary is it to know the original in order to enjoy the fic?

Definitely don't feel bad for not commenting, I figure, if someone happens to spot something of interest in my recs, then hey, otherwise, they're mostly for my own benefit.

In general, I would say that most Yuletide stories are pretty impenetrable without a good grasp of the source fandom, alas. I've tried reading a few where it turned out I didn't recall enough of the source, and just had no idea what was going on.

However, if you're looking for something to read at this time, I would be happy to offer you a personalized recommendations service, where if you tell me some fandoms you like, and something about what you're looking for (distracting fluff? drama? porn? long stories? short stories?) I will see if I can come up with Something You Would Like.

So my favorite fic of all time was Tara/Faith, " Are You Experienced?" Don't know if it's still available online.

I am all about the distracting fluff nowadays, as you may be able to tell from my LJ (and we haven't even gotten to the part about cute guys glomping on each other; that's a work in progress) but I generally prefer my written smut to involve women only. Fandoms... Will have to think of some when Janet isn't following me around crying.

Upon further consideration, I'm hoping there's a really funny Britta/Annie fic somewhere out there.
