movie review: Rise of the Guardians

Cute, some really nice imagery/effects (actually, thinking about where animation is now, compared with when I was a kid, kind of blows my mind), a couple of awkward transitions where I got a little confused what was happening.

Hm. So the central conceit of the film is that Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and the Sandman are real and are on a vaguely Avengers-esque team to protect the innocence and joy of childhood, and the plot turns out to hinge on children believing in them. Not sure how much Junie would get out of that, but then, I'm not sure exactly what she makes of Ponyo either...
