Shaenon Garrity of Narbonic is doing cartoon recaps of the X-Files here.

I liked this SF novella by Jay Lake, "The Weight of History, The Lightness of the Future", online at Subterranean. It reminded me a little bit of Peter Watt's novel Blindsight. (I promised [livejournal.com profile] carpenter I would try to recommend more SFF profic, because she'll get to nominate for the Hugos next year, so, look, a rec.)

(Heck, while I'm at it, here's another, a short story from Strange Horizons that I recced to a community awhile back, but not here, I don't think: "Beside Calais" by Samantha Henderson, WWI, flying beasts, and aviators.)

I've only ever seen like one episode of X-Files -- should I read this? I liked the first one. I think I'm not worried about spoilers, unless X-Files is so awesome that we should watch the whole thing with the kids some day. :^)
