So my monitor mostly doesn't display the color red anymore (the red gun went screwy or all the red pixels went on strike or something), and I'm okay with that. Sure, I can't tell cyan from white or green from yellow or blue from purple or black from red, but I've gotten used to interpreting dichromatic images until sometimes things just look normal, and occasionally the red will pop back on and I will see the online world in glorious full-color.

*However.* A few minutes ago my monitor started flickering yellow. A *dimmer* yellow, as in, the blue was going in and out. And dude. That is *so* not okay. It has stopped for the moment, but I so don't want to be viewing the world in monocolor. Useability would plummet. So, gah, think I'm seriously going to have to try to scrounge up a different monitor (note my avoidance of the word "new"). ::does not want to deal::

Gah. The disappearance of red happened to me last summer, and after installing and re-installing most everything and checking al the connections, the problem finally turned out to be a bent pin in the serial cord. I'm sure that's not your problem, but. . . Augh. Is there an old monitor lying around at work you can scrounge?

you know, i might be able to trade you my frosh year mac monitor, since, if i ever get around to putting a working os on that machine again, it'll be linux, and i doubt i'll be running anything graphical. so yellow on black might be doable. a thought, anyway.
