book review: And Tango Makes Three

With Junie so interested in babies lately, it seemed like the perfect time to read And Tango Makes Three, about the gay penguin dads at the Central Park Zoo. It is just as adorable as you'd expect (which is: very), and it's always interesting to check out books from the ALA most-banned list. Junie loved it and squeeed adorably herself when the baby penguin hatched.

I just looked up the ALA. The American Library Association banned this book?! In the 70s, libraries promoted equality and fought censorship; when did all this reverse?

Er, no, no, sorry I was unclear. The ALA compiles a list of books that have received lots of challenges, as a way to draw attention to the issue. The ALA is still anti-censorship!

Phew! Thanks for clarifying! I am quite relieved that it was not what it looked like! The world makes sense again, now;-) And it sounds like a nice book.
