Project: Can We See A Rainbow?
Materials: tub of water, mirror, flashlight
Explanatory details: In theory, you can put a mirror in water, shine a flashlight on it, and get rainbows.
How did it go: fail. We Could Not see a rainbow. Or at least, no combination of angles of mirror and flashlight and water that I tried produced one anywhere we could spot it before Junie got impatient to play with the water. Maybe if I tried it without her I would have been able to fiddle around enough to get it to work? I guess I didn't realize it was going to be that tricky. (Anyone who's done it, any hints?)
Things we talked about: We didn't get that far.
What Junie got out of it: Water! She played very happily with a duck and some ice cubes.
