movie rec: Source Code

SEE THIS MOVIE. Do not read anything about it, do not watch the trailer (do *not* watch the trailer) but see this movie.

If Moon was a sci-fi movie made by people who had seen the same classic sci-fi movies as I have, Source Code is a sci-fi movie made by people who have READ the same sci-fi as I have. I'm hesitant to even name authors. Just... yes. An actual movie that is as good as that story, or that other one.

We went to a screening with Duncan Jones about a week before it came out. He's been a giant SF reader since he was a kid, and is SUPER CHARMING.

Fully agreed, right down to the comparisons you use to describe it. The ONLY thing I objected to on that front was the title.

Do you have a better title in mind? I've been trying to think of one I like, but haven't come up with any.

Well, they named the movie after the project in the movie, so they would presumably have renamed the project too. If I worked for the people who were naming that project, I definitely would've told them that was a dumb name. Given the nature of it, it would probably have had a codename, not something descriptive... But a meaningless codename would've been fine -- it's giving it a name that already means something totally different that seems weird.
