Ok, this was totally my fault for reading comments on a political blog, but someone arguing in favor of defunding Title X made the claim that "no one ever has or will be denied medical care due to an inability to pay." and I was just so dumbfounded I had to post about it. Someone further down the page suggests that people who work at Planned Parenthood just need to "lower their very high salaries to compensate for reduced free money". I know when I think about people who are raking it in, I think about clinic workers!

... I guess in some ways it's better to think it's deliberate trolling, and not sincere belief?

I think there's some myth going around that just because hospitals are mandated to provide emergency care regardless of payment, people can receive all of the health care they need without paying. I doubt I need to even mention how many ways this is missing the point.

(As for the second one: some kind of pervasive belief that all doctors are raking it in, I guess?)

But I think they specifically mentioned nurses and staff, not just doctors?

That makes sense that people are conflating emergency care with all care. I mean, it doesn't make sense as in "is true", but it makes sense as in "okay, I can see where the mix-up occurred".
