Why is this shirt only available in extra-small? It's *orange and purple plaid*! I really want one. Alas, I am a Target extra-large, not an extra-small. If I had better sewing-fu I'd be tempted to buy one and try to turn it into a dress for Junie, if I thought I could take the shoulders in somehow. (But maybe that's a bad habit to start, trying to live vicariously through my kid?)

Does that mean it's last season's and they're out of all the other sizes? If so, you might try in-store clearance racks.

Sadly, it was something I saw on a clearance rack (in an extra-small) and went online to see if I could find in the right size.

... it is a little tempting to go driving around tomorrow to the other two nearby Targets, just to see if I could get lucky, but I doubt Junie would stand for that much pawing through clearance racks.

The name suggests that it's Juniors, i.e. not meant to come in adult-women sizes.

Well, but the Juniors section has other things in extra-large. I think they even had other flannel shirts from the same line, in different colors, in extra-large. It's true that the cut would still probably not be ideal but for a flannel I'm not looking for too much beyond "big enough".

Ah, I hate it when I find awesome shirts that they no longer have in my size. I had the same thing happen with this shirt at Kohls recently. It too was on the clearance rack, and only in an extra small. I checked two other Kohls and online, and they didn't have it anymore since it was the previous season's.

if you want to, you could probably buy two and then cut up one to use as a gusset to enlarge the other one--I'd be happy to bring over my sewing machine and help with the craft project, if you'd like. Then again, you're probably busy enough being a mommy that you don't exactly need more craft projects. And it could be argued that I have a bit of a crafting addiction myself... but sewing is so much fun!

I decided to buy the small one and try turning it into a toddler dress after all - the sleeves will need to be much shorter, and I'm thinking I can use the extra fabric from that to turn into a sash to tie in the back? I guess the first step should be to actually get it onto her and assess...
