The Consuming Fire

The Consuming Fire. Sometimes you just have to go for the low-hanging fruit. This popped unexpectedly from a long library queue and I was able to knock it off in a couple of days and actually get something off my "need to read" list. Like the first one, this is extremely readable SF; I might have wished for a deeper treatment of the part I found most interesting, but that's not what this was about. Weirdly, the library had the third one just sitting there - I suppose people only want it once they've made it through the queue for number two - so I expect to be done with the trilogy soon (and actually done with another Hugo category, finally).
